The Avbands are essential components of the Avbirth wearable birthing simulator, designed to enhance realism and facilitate communication during childbirth simulations. Each Avbirth comes with two Avbands—one for the Simulated Participant (SP) and another for a support person involved in the simulation. Here's their role and how they are used:
Role of Avbands:
-
Haptic Feedback for Contractions:
- The Avbands deliver haptic vibrations, signaling the onset, intensity, and duration of contractions to the SP. This feedback helps the SP respond realistically to the simulated birthing process.
-
Support Person Interaction:
- The second Avband allows a support person, such as a Facilitator or an assisting participant, to receive the same contraction signals. This ensures synchronized awareness and responses during the simulation.
-
Emergency Communication:
- Each Avband is equipped with an emergency button. The SP or support person can use this to immediately notify the Facilitator if discomfort or an urgent need arises during the simulation.
-
Two-Way Communication:
- The Avbands enable effective communication between the SP, the support person, and the Facilitator, creating a more interactive and immersive simulation.
