As part of your Avthor purchase, you received a Chest Drainage Unit (CDU) to enhance the realism of your simulation scenario. This could be either a wet suction system or a dry suction system.
Your school or institution also has the option to use its own CDU. However, please note that the CDU provided with your Avthor has been specially modified to allow for repeated use in simulation environments.
Wet Suction System:
-
Uses water to control the level of suction.
-
Suction strength depends on how much water is in the chamber.
-
Requires learners to monitor water levels and watch for bubbling, which indicates suction is working.
Dry Suction System:
-
Uses a mechanical regulator to control suction pressure, eliminating the need for water.
-
It may be easier to set up and maintain since there’s no water level to monitor.
Important Note:
If you choose to use your own CDU, be sure to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for use and maintenance. The CDU provided by Avkin has been adjusted for safe, reusable simulation use and may differ from clinical models in terms of setup or cleaning instructions.
