For a smooth and realistic birthing simulation, it's essential to place the baby correctly inside the Avbirth device. Follow these steps to ensure comfort, safety, and authenticity throughout your simulation.
Step-by-Step Baby Placement
-
Wrap the Umbilical Cord
-
Wrap the umbilical cord around the baby at least once before placement.
-
If you plan to simulate skin-to-skin contact after birth, wrap the cord twice to provide enough slack for the baby to reach the SP’s chest.
-
-
Choose the Orientation
-
Place the baby inside the baby tube in your preferred birthing orientation (typically head down, facing slightly to the side).
-
Position the arms folded under the chin, mimicking the fetal position. This helps prevent arms from catching or getting stuck during delivery.
-
Make sure the legs are tucked in and close to the body.
-
-
Seat the Baby on the Pusher
-
The baby’s bottom should rest directly on the pusher mechanism inside the tube. This positioning ensures the pusher can engage properly and create a smooth, progressive delivery.
-
If the baby is not seated correctly, you may notice limited motion or resistance during the simulation.
-
-
Close the Baby Tube Securely
-
Gently close the lid, taking care that no limbs are pinched in the process.
-
You should feel a little resistance when latching the lid—this indicates the baby is being held securely, which is necessary for proper simulation.
